Topics to write in future Blogger Posts

I swear I jotted down in a Post-It note a handful of topics which I would have loved to discuss about in this blog, but that note is NOWHERE to be found. This entire situation is MADDENING to me. I mean, I guess I can somewhat reconstruct it anyway, but I wanted that note, you know? Is this a fake memory of mine? Fun fact: Post-It Note is both the name of the company and the commonly used name of its well-known product. It is just like Tetrapak. They are both a sort of a metonym. Anyway, before my remaining sanity dwindles away, I would like to tell myself that I might as well write in the future one Blogger post about each of the following topics: - The art of compression - A font digression - What a colourful world (featuring Brandon James Greer and colour contrast readability sites) - Advertisements extravaganza - Trackmania is my comfort game - Deck 'em and some lost iOS games: Battle robots, Space Qube, Paper Toss  That is pretty much it. I should go to sleep immediately now....

Up she stood, with really careful and slow movements. She picked up her backpack and her sandals (she loved walking barefooted since she was little), and swiftly checked her surroundings to make sure she was not forgetting anything. Then, up the little grassy hill on her right she walked. The hill was not really steep, yet the girl felt like she was lifting invisible heavy boulders attached to her feet every step she took. It took her around one minute to approach the exact point where her gaze could look above the curvature on top of the hill, but when she got to that spot, she failed to have the courage to keep her eyes open. She walked a handful of steps more, until she noticed that her next step would have placed her right foot below her left. She breathed a deep sigh, and then finally separated her eyelids again. Lo and behold, there were still a medium density of tree crowns just around the height of the horizon. No surprises there, it is not as if there was a different amount of...

The font of the last Post does not seem to be Trebuchet. Rearrange the paragraphs so that Laila answers "I cannot go any longer" nello stesso paragrafo di "PAST RIGHT HILL" Replace "my heart aches, too" with "my hope is faltering"

CoM AA-AA

 CoM = Chronicles of Monogea; Book 1/6: On the defeat of the bodysnatchers Chapter 1: At the hour when thieves flee A girl was sitting down crossed-legged on the floor of a forest while the sun had just started to enlighten the sky. She was tired and hopeless. She had been running for three days, she had slept very few hours, but her destination still eluded her. She was sleepy and demotivated. She was eating her last piece of food, a hardened small loaf of bread which had completely lost its flavours from when it was baked three days prior. "Amicus [PHONETICS MISSING] , I daresay that not sleeping this past night may not have been one of my most brilliant decisions" she managed to whisper. What was this Amicus she was talking to? At that time, the girl did not know yet exactly. After their first interactions years prior, she concluded that Amicus was a benevolent entity which resided deep in her soul (or, at least, in what she thought to be a pure non-physical part of her). ...

Note to self [AA-AA -> AA-AD], [AA-AA+AA -> AA-AA+AB]

These "Notes to self" are intended to be some loose suggestions I give to myself for writing Posts in this Blogger website. I doubt you will find them useful, but you may read them regardless. Note to self AA-AA: Numbering convention Whenever I feel like something should be numbered, I should use a specific set name (e.g. "Note to self") together with two sets of a pair of alphabetical characters to number it. Alphabetical order should apply, i.e. AA-AA is followed by AA-AB, AA-AC, etc, AA-AZ, AA-BA, etc, AA-ZZ, AB-AA etc, etc. If my computations are correct, this should give me 26 to the power of 4 possible elements for one set, or more than 450 thousand elements for a set. If I ever reach such a number, I MUST go to a doctor to check my mental health. But whatever, better safe than sorry. Note to self AA-AA+AA: Appendix convention If for whatever reason I feel like I should add / specify / modify / deny / nullify something regarding a particular numbered entry, in...

How to export everything from Blogger

So, I just quickly tested the export functionality of Blogger. I am quite impressed, I am not going to lie. I shall talk to you about it. The whole Blog is exported in a single YML file. By quickly scrolling through it, I concluded that this file contains info regarding the theme and the settings at the top, and all the Posts at the bottom enlisted in chronological order (there is a timestamp for literally everything). It would make sense if ALL the pieces of info regarding the theme are saved and if Archived Posts ("old enough" Posts) are placed in the backup file, yet I did not personally test that.  To open a YML file you can use: a simple text editor (e.g. Notepad for Windows, TextEdit for Mac or Visual Studio Code); a browser (e.g. Firefox worked for me); Excel; an XML viewer. A long XML file in a crude text editor can is quite harsh to analyse though. Personally, I will be using Firefox to check the backups. I thank this wikiHow link for being a somewhat valuable so...

Testing some Trackmania media

Image
I noticed that I can embed photos and videos inside a Post here in Blogger. Here is a never before published start of a Trackmania 2020 trial map of mine (that is, if I ever come around and decide to actually complete the entire map lol): And here is a cool screenshot of mine from the game Trackmania Turbo: BTW, the above video and photo were directly embedded inside the Post. Blogger provides the functionality to LINK both Youtube videos and photos. Links should most definitely simplify the export process of the entire blog (if I ever decide to do that, but I should test it first) and overall they should load and behave better.

"Fixing" the Trebuchet font in Blogger

And I immediately stumbled upon a little annoyance in Blogger, gosh freaking darn it. Look, I can set the theme to "Essential Light" just fine. I can change each type of font appearing in the theme itself to Trebuchet, no big deal. As long as I do not select Trebuchet, I can also choose any font face (default or downloaded) in the Blogger Post Editor without issue. But if I dare to select "Trebuchet" as the font in the Post Editor... Oh boy, we have issues! The font displayed is like a super skinny Times New Roman, or something serif which looks HORRIBLE and it is almost unreadable. And publishing the post fixes NOTHING. Luckily, I already found two workarounds. 1) If I switch to "HTML view" in the Post Editor, and if I replace each occurrence of <span style="font-family: trebuchet;"> with <span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"> the freaking Post Editor shows the font correctly (and publishing should work fine too). But ...

The aim of this blog

Hello explorer of the Internet, I hope you are having a great day! I have been dreaming for a long time to start something similar to a blog page. This post that you are reading right now is the culmination of all my efforts to understand what platform and / or website would be best to use for my goal of creating a blog page. In other words, I think that Blogger may just provide what I was looking for. The aim of this blog is to write about whatever fascinates me. So, I will sporadically add a post here and there explaining the conclusions I landed at after studying a random topic. Or maybe I will just write a post about something very trivial which caught my attention. We will see where I will end up. I might write very few posts. I might write a lot. I am still not sure at this stage. The one thing I know for certain is that I own each post that I create here (see this user ask about content ownership here and see Google Privacy Policy here ). P.S. I meant to use the domain "w...
