Note to self [AA-AA -> AA-AD], [AA-AA+AA -> AA-AA+AB]

These "Notes to self" are intended to be some loose suggestions I give to myself for writing Posts in this Blogger website. I doubt you will find them useful, but you may read them regardless.

Note to self AA-AA: Numbering convention

Whenever I feel like something should be numbered, I should use a specific set name (e.g. "Note to self") together with two sets of a pair of alphabetical characters to number it. Alphabetical order should apply, i.e. AA-AA is followed by AA-AB, AA-AC, etc, AA-AZ, AA-BA, etc, AA-ZZ, AB-AA etc, etc. If my computations are correct, this should give me 26 to the power of 4 possible elements for one set, or more than 450 thousand elements for a set. If I ever reach such a number, I MUST go to a doctor to check my mental health. But whatever, better safe than sorry.

Note to self AA-AA+AA: Appendix convention

If for whatever reason I feel like I should add / specify / modify / deny / nullify something regarding a particular numbered entry, instead of completely modify the original Post it lies in, I should use the "+" character together with a pair of alphabetical characters for clarifications. Again, alphabetical order applies, and I doubt I will ever need more than 600 clarifications for a given entry, but I better be safe than sorry.

Note to self AA-AA+AB: Multiple numbers in one Post Convention

If a Post (like this one I am reading right now) contains multiple numbered entries, then the number of the first included entry and the number of the last included entry must appear inside square brackets and must be separated by the characters " -> ". Additional commas and square brackets may be used for enlisting Appendices (e.g. [AA-AZ -> AA-BB], AA-AZ+AA, [AA-BA+AA -> AA-BA+AC] and the title of this Post are reasonable way to place multiple numbers in one Post).

Note to self AA-AB: Preferred form of a Published Post

As I have already described in an earlier Post, I should use the Default Font setting on all the text in the Post Editor to obtain the "Trebuchet" font in the Publish Post. I may write the Post in another font (namely Atkinson Hyperlegible or Work Sans), and I may miss the fact that the "quotes" are in the same font as everything else, but whatever, I don't care. I should choose the easiest and laziest option for now.

On that note, I will allow myself to use whatever option I have available in the Post Editor whenever I feel like. So horizontal breaks, Headings, Bold, Italic, Links etcetera are all allowed.

Note to self AA-AC: Backups

I should backup q.b. (which means "quanto basta" in Italian). Go to Blogger.com -> Settings -> Manage your blog and click at least one of the following:

  • Backup your blog (to get the XML file of the entire blog, to be open with Firefox)
  • Manage your Videos (to access, delete, and / or download my videos from the "Blogger cloud")
  • Manage your Media (to access, delete, and / or download my Photos from the "Blogger cloud")

Once you enter "My Videos" you can move to the photos and viceversa.

Note to self AA-AD: Outside links

Since links are quite volatile things, I should briefly describe the content of each outside link I use (e.g. Title and Author of a Youtube Video, "XML files can be opened with A,B,C,D source wikiHow").
